Top 5 | Bollywood Movies to Watch This January | 2018

The start of the year also means a new drive for content spilling up the beans. Bollywood is certainly dropping an enormous number of high-profile films into theatres, all in an effort to make it to the list of 'Best Movies of 2018' at the end of the year. Though the month hasn't been really lucky for releases in the previous years, 2017 managed to break the jinx with 'Raess' and 'Kaabil' breaking the charts. Let's see what this January has in store!

Kaalakaandi: Written and directed by Akshat Verma and produced by Rohit Khattar and Ashi Dua, Kaalakaandi stars Saif Ali Khan. Akshat Verma is previously known for movies like 'Delhi Belly' and 'The Ode'. " Kaalakaandi " which is a Marathi slang for disastrously wrong is a dark comedy which revolves around the basic essence of life - life, death and karma. The film is scheduled to release on January 12.

Co-written, co-produced and directed by Anurag Kashyap, the sports drama stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Zoya Hussain, Ravi Kishan and Jimmy Shergill. The plot revolves around a low caste boxer who falls in love with the local don's niece. The movie is about the boxer's fight for love against firm retaliation from the don. Mukkabaaz is scheduled to release theatrically on 12 January.

Union Leader: Written and Directed by Sanjay Patel, the movie stars Rahul Bhat and Tillotama Shome in the lead roles. The drama revolves around Jay whose life has nothing more to it apart from his job at a chemical plant. He longs for more, and when reality hits him, he realises that there is a price to pay for every dream that you have. The movie portrays Jay's fight against power and corruption. The film will hit the theatres on January 19.

Aiyyari: The action crime drama is written and directed Neeraj Pandey and Anupam Kher, Sidharth Malhotra, Naseeruddin Shah, Manoj Bajpayee, Adil Hussain, Rakul Preet Singh, Rajesh Tailang and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. Produced by Shital Bhatia, Aiyyari revolves around the story of two army officers. Aiyyari is scheduled to release theatrically on 26 January.

Padman: Written and directed by R. Balki, Padman is a biography of social activist Arunachalam Muruganantham from Tamil Nadu, who had a mission of providing sanitary napkins to the underprivileged. The comedy-drama stars Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte and Sonam Kapoor the film is set to release on 26 January.
