10 . Whoopi Goldberg . Whoopi was my number one comedy icon growing up as a kid. Her character of Guinan on Star Trek: The Next Generation made me love her, and between that and Sister Act (1 and 2) and the fact that she voiced Liz on The Magic School Bus basically made her my icon.
But as I got older, I learned to appreciate her other work as well, and her ability to balance comedy with some drama. Her role as co-host on The View has been controversial at times, but she has stood up for what she thinks and believes in and that’s something admirable in anyone.
