Tony Valentino, the guitarist for LA based garage rock band The Standells, is doing a new version of that band classic Dirty Water album. After releasing the the rollicking lead single Barracuda he feels confident enough to share the reimagined title, once again aided by Duane Waider on vocals and drums, and Gary Kaluza on bass.
The original is BIG in Boston, where it is in heavy rotation at home games by the Boston Bruins and the Boston Red Sox. The 2022 is quite alright, but it lacks a bit of the spark that was captured when The Standells were one of the progenitors of the catchy, poppy punk sound that made them a household name and a reference point since then.
Dirty Water is released via Big Stir Records.
