Castillo's career started on YouTube, singing lullaby covers and steadily growing her subscriber list and fanbase. Recently, Alaina Castillo released her single, tonight (August 14, 2020) which has already passed the 1 million stream mark - and looks like it's going to keep adding numbers.

And now, to the Q&A!
Alaina Castillo Q&A
Q. You've had awesome success online in your career so far, what is it like to be in the traditional music world as well? Does any of it feel the same, or is it all completely different?
Alaina. It's a different feel because YouTube was split with school and other activities all while I was really trying to make content that could help me get out there and now that I'm in an artist and creating my own stuff, it's a different life full of studio time, performances, and just staying on top of my music and my ideas. I think it might be easy to get caught up and forget about your own thoughts and plans so that's been something that I've been learning along the way but it's all a part of the process and I'm enjoying it so that's all that matters.
Q. We did a little math, and when you combine your YouTube, Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook communities, you're at up over 1.1 million total followers ( Alaina also has 1.6 million followers on Tik Tok). What is it like to look at a number like that and know that you are the artist all of those people are following?
Alaina. I remember when I only had 800 subscribers on YouTube and how I would write down my goals and the amount of subscribers I wanted to have by a certain point so looking back at those plans versus what has actually been happening now is insane. The opportunities, moving to a new state, learning more about myself, and just figuring out how to balance everything because sometimes it's way more than I could have imagined and it's all in the best way possible but taking a minute to pause and say... wow... really helps everything sink in. Above everything else, I'm just super thankful.
Q. We know that artists' goals change over time and from one project to the next, but if we were going to ask you about any big goals that you've set for yourself or hope to achieve some day, what's way up there on that list?
Alaina. The main goal for me is to go on world tours and continue to create music that makes those events so elevated and ethereal that I can physically create the escapes I think of in my head when I hear my music. I just want to be a part of the bigger picture of music and creativity and I want to be as real as I can throughout that whole process.
Q. Houston has a great music history that dates back generations. What is it like to think of yourself on a list with other Houston artists including names like Beyonce and Solange?
Alaina. I used to always tell myself that I would be one of the artists who came from Houston and that was something I was really proud of because it is the best city in the world (jeje) and that's where I learned about music and culture and all the vibes I like to put into my music.
Q. Fans online know that you and lullabies go together like peanut butter and chocolate - but we want to know what your favourite traditional lullaby is.
Alaina. I can't really remember the name of the lullaby but my dad always used to sing a song before bed that talked about nature and beauty and dark vibes and I feel like it's shaped the way I've felt about music and life in general but another favorite is Can't Help Falling In Love by Elvis even though it's not really a lullaby. Anything that can be sung softly, and sound pretty is a lullaby though, so it just depends.
Q. Last one for a little something extra, can you tell us all something that we wouldn't find on your social channels or in a Google search. (example: a hidden talent)
Alaina. I used to have mukbangs by myself because I would just get really hungry and devour anything I could, and people are often surprised by how much I eat. I can also do a sound with my mouth where it sounds like a baby or something and it's created by saying it through a closed fist, but I can do it without my fist as well.
Thanks to Alaina for hooking us up with all of these answers + her round of 5 Quick Questions. We can't wait to watch her star continue to rise and her music to be played everywhere!
