Tips for Tuesdays: Keeping with the Season, Part II

By Primal Primos @PrimalPrimos

Touching on our post from a few weeks ago, produce is not the only seasonal item you should consider when planning your event.  When designing your  décor, keep an eye on which flowers are in season at the time of your event.  Like produce, selecting florals at their peak will not only save money, but will also result in higher quality arrangements.

It is important to consult with your florist or event designer on ideas that highlight the best florals of the season.   We had one October bride who really loved peonies, however, peonies are a spring and summer flower.  The florist advised that even if peonies were available at that time, the arrangements that the bride wanted would be quite costly, and rather recommended a parrot rose for a similar look with much less of an expense.

Below is a list of the most popular wedding flowers by season:

Spring: Calla Lily, Daffodil, Gerbera Daisy, Hyacinth, Lily, Orchid, Peony, Ranunculus, Rose, Stephanotis, Tulip

Summer: Dahlia, Gardenia, Gerbera Daisy, Hydrangea, Lily, Orchid, Peony, Poppy, Rose, Stephanotis

Fall: Dahlia, Gerbera Daisy, Hydrangea, Orchid, Rose, Stephanotis

Winter: Calla Lily, Daffodil, Gerbera Daisy, Hyacinth, Orchis, Rose, Stephanotis, Tulip
