Tips for Tuesdays: Keeping with the Season

By Primal Primos @PrimalPrimos

When you are planning an event, really consider which produce items  remind you of the season.  If you are planning an event six months from now, you are going to want to include some of the heartier items available in the fall, rather than the lighter fruits and vegetables that we are enjoying now that the weather is starting to warm up.  Not only will this save you money, but your produce items will be of higher quality and more flavorful, as well.

If you are planning a smaller event and doing your own cooking, shop your local Farmer’s Markets for the best seasonal produce available in your area.  If you are working with a caterer, ask them to highlight items that really speak to the season.  Gourmet Celebrations offers custom menu planning to all clients, and we are happy to feature items such as an Heirloom Tomato and Watermelon Salad in the summer or a rich Butternut Squash Risotto in the  winter.
