This week’s Throwback Thursday is a bit special because it is sort of epic in the history of this bog. A year ago this week I had a post go viral.
Tights Are Not Pants, Ya Hear?
In a million years I never thought this simple photo I took of a woman I spotted wearing a pair of tights as pants would spark such attention. Within a few days of posting it I got more hits on this one post in a day than I do in an entire month. Some people thought it was hilarious, others thought I was the cruelest person on the planet for sharing this photo (and laid into me) and this one post sparked copy-cat bloggers to do follow-up posts (both supportive and critical).
The post went viral for about a week and comment after comment rolled in, fights among commenters broke out and I finally just had to turn my comment notification emails off because I couldn’t stand getting multiple alerts every few seconds. I did, however, respond to many of the comments, which my husband thought was ridiculous. It wasn’t my finest moment.
In the middle of it, I remember telling my best friend, Heather, about what happened with this post and just said, “I have a 20 year career in fashion and THIS is what I will be remembered for.”
The world is a crazy place.
