• My team leader and I came back from Mass this morning to one of my teammates in the bathroom belting Carrie Underwood and another teammate in the living room watching Rihanna music videos on the AmeriCorps-issued laptop. It seems we’re going to have many a music battle in this house.
• Ten people, one bathroom. So far so good, surprisingly. It probably helps that on the day we moved in I overheard a conversation from my room while I was unpacking that went something like this: “I mean, I hadn’t eaten corn in a month, but there it was, fully intact!” Um, ew!
• We’ve unofficially decided that the NCCC is not so much about ‘getting things done’, but having more people than is actually required to complete a task eager to help. Need to sweep the kitchen floor? We’ll have one person sweeping, the other person ground guiding, and another holding the dustpan.
• Yesterday three of us worked an ISP (the Home Sweet Home 5K & 10K put on by the Visiting Nurse Association if you must know) and so we got to stand in the sleet and hail for six hours starting at 6:30 in the morning wearing nurse hats. There was hot chocolate. And t-shirts. Awe-some!
• Tomorrow we’ve got a fully day of ISP organized by yours truly, the ISP coordinator, and then we start our week of orientation at our project. I’m actually pretty pumped to learn about the assisted living industry!
• Living together has, so far, done a lot for our team dynamic. I don’t think anyone would deny that it was a little funky before, but we’re doing pretty good now.
Over and out.
