Elon Musk, is a well-known businessman and an inventor who’s got more money that he has no idea what to do with. If you still remember the first private spacecraft that reached the ISS, then you should know he is the founder and CEO of that SpaceX program. His latest plan is to reinvent and change the future of designer manufacturing. His first step into this project was to create a 3D gesture-based user interface that allows us to interact with a virtual object using nothing but our hands, much like that UI we saw in Iron Man. Musk has released a new video showing off this new system in action.

Ever since this project was announced, I was anxiously waiting for an amazing demonstration, given SpaceX team’s reputation. But, this was a little disappointing. Basically, what I see in this video is a guy rotating and zooming in and out on a 3D object using hand gestures, and then print it out with a 3D printer. It’s is not so much of a breakthrough in technology, since we already does much more advanced things on our smartphones. And I must say, I’ve seen way better things made with Kinect and Leap Motion. I don’t see why he even compare this with the awesome UI in Iron Man, this is no where near that.
