Sipping on some Rum Punch and enjoying the good life. *sigh!* Holidays are the best part of my life. Jamaica is a sceneic country with lot of natural beauty to offer. I have taken a moment and compiled a list of things I think anyone traveling there should definitely carry with them (besides the generic packing list):
1) Bug Bites: Let's get the bad stuff out of the way first aka insects and mosqitoes. Boy! they really had a party at my expense (on my skin!). Rookie mistake. Be sure to carry a bug spray and use it before you step out of the room else you will be sucked on like nothing ever before!
2) Sun Screen: This is pretty basic. No matter where you are going you should carry it, but make sure you use at least SPF 50 for beach locations.
3) Comfortable Footwear: Peopel in Jamaica is usually casual. But the roads might not all be walking-friendly, hence make sure you have comfortable and durable footwear for all occassions. You might need sports sandals, water shoes, flip flops, depending on the activities you plan to do on the island.
4) Casual Clothing: The hot and humid weather will not allow you to wear anythign else so carry light, flowing clothes. Men should also carry a pair of jeans or khakis incase the hotel has a dress code for their restaurants.
5) Ample Swimwear: Most of the activities involve water, hence carrying at least 3-4 swim suits would be a good idea. It also rains a lot (which is most welcome in that humidity) so clothes might not always dry at a day's notice.
