Things You Can Do During One Day Trip to Mussoorie

By Travelrasoi @travelrasoi

Tired from the hustle and bustle of regular life and with the weekend ahead, I waited no more and hit the roads for a joyous one-day trip to Mussoorie. The Queen of hills in Uttarakhand offered the best of experience to unwind for a day with the family. While driving on the hill roads dotted with lush forests of cedars, chestnuts, and deodars, we transferred into a mystical world.

Once in Mussoorie, you can enjoy a lot of things in a day. So, here I’ll guide you through what I did and how you can too organize a fun-filled weekend getaway in Mussoorie.

Fall in love with waterfalls

You haven’t visited Mussoorie if you don’t visit the famous Kempty Falls – one of the most beautiful waterfalls in India. At an altitude of 1370 m, the surging waterfalls plunging into a pool, and a breathtaking backdrop hooked me up with its charm. Descending through narrow winding stairs, I reached the plunge pool and enjoyed a dip that rejuvenated my mind. A perfect destination for picnicking with the family on a bright afternoon.

Engulf yourself at Cloud’s end

This spot is the geographical end of gorgeous Mussoorie and one of the best viewpoints here. Cloud’s end was a treat to the eyes as the entire Mussoorie looked like a fairytale land from this top point.

Lal Tibba trekking for majestic views

After this, we went for the trek to Lal Tibba. It is one of the most famous tourist spots settled at the highest point in Mussoorie. The trekking route was short and fantastic that rewarded me with spectacular panoramas of the hills. It is approximately 1 km route. We relaxed for about an hour at Lal Tibba and relished some lip-smacking local street food at the many stalls near the hill. From 7500 ft elevation, you will see the most stunning view of Mussoorie that will never drop out of your mind.

Time for some adventure

Being an adventure freak, I head to Mussoorie Adventure Park to experience Sky Ride. The zip line ride that is 800 ft in length carried me through one end to another while presenting picturesque landscapes of the whole town. The pleasure of gliding across lush forests was really an exceptional event for me. So, if you are young at heart and also want to experience the same adrenaline rush like me, do not give it a miss. You can also opt for a skywalk, rock climbing, superman ride, zip swing, and other activities available here as per your choice.

Explore Mussoorie Christ Church

The majestic oldest church in the Himalayan region that was built-in 1836 was the next stop. It was the best place to admire the Gothic Architecture. You can perceive the story of Christ depicted on the church’s stained-glass windows and walls. Further, an old bible and a musical instrument called William Hill Organ are the two more features of this church. I transcend back into the 19th century period by exploring the glory of this church.

Shopping at Mall road

Mall road is near to the church, so we ended our tour with this location. It is a go-to stop for shopping as well as satiating your gastronomical craving. The mall road presents colonial-style street architecture furnished with lit lamp posts and small houses. Shops and cozy eateries also fill this slightly steep street. We wandered here in the evening to savor a local bite with a hot cup of chai and of course, shopped some beautiful items like artifacts, jewelry, and wooden crafts!

Also, you can enjoy a Gun hill Ropeway starting from Mall Road. This cable car ride is guaranteed fun that offers a bird’s eye view of Mussoorie and encompassing scenes.

This little trip allowed us to appreciate the land full of natural beauty in its most awe-inspiring way. Thus, the Mussoorie excursion will offer all the much-needed pleasures you desire even in a single day.
