If you’re like me, the earliest memory of the Thin Lizzy brand comes from their TV infomercials but the brand is now stocked in a range of chemists, Big W’s and I’ve even seen it at my local Priceline store. Beyond their well known 6 in 1 powder, the brand also has other foundations, a concealer, lip gloss, eyeliner and more. Today I’m sharing my thoughts on the Thin Lizzy Mineral Foundation SPF15 + Kabuki Brush set.
Each set is boxed with the foundation (available in 8 shades) compact, a mineral foundation kabuki brush, instructional DVD and instruction manual to help with application.
The mineral foundation kabuki brush is a wonderful brush with amazingly soft bristles that pick up the foundation well and buff it into the skin with ease.
Coming in a round and easy to travel with mirrored compact, the foundation has a lovely smooth texture that is easy to apply as it glides over the skin. After an initial application, the foundation looks extremely natural on the skin and just as stated on the box, the more you polish/buff the foundation into the skin, the more lighter and illuminated your base becomes. Being a mineral foundation, you can slowly build up the coverage and I found that this product produced a sheer to light-medium coverage, depending on how much you applied.
The foundation is very easy to wear on the skin because of it’s natural coverage and finish, which didn’t leave the face looking cakey or accentuate any dry patches. It’s also very lightweight and comfortable on the skin with the added bonus of an SPF15. Some powder foundations can leave the skin looking a little dull but I didn’t experience that at all with this foundation because as promised, the more you buffed, the more the minerals warmed up and created a subtle illumination to the skin. As with most mineral foundations, I find that as the day goes on, the finish of your foundation also gets better!
On my normal-dry skin and being someone who loves a light coverage for day to day, this powder lasted a good 5 – 6 hours before I noticed it beginning to wear away, so whilst it isn’t the longest lasting foundation, it does last a decent period of time and for me, a full day of Uni is about 6 hours so I have no issues with the longevity. I think this powder would also work very nicely on top of a liquid base to add the slightest touch of coverage and provide a smooth finish.
