Because of the Easter holiday, TheMarioBlog will not publish again until Monday, March 28. Happy Easter!
While not advocating that we simply say goodbye to homepages and hello to other ways of promoting mobile content, this is an interesting case study that newspaper publishers should become aware of.
NowThis Media is primarily about videos and the company’s Ashish Patel, Vice President of Social , said at a conference that “By reducing the friction and having the user able to consume videos directly, as opposed to having to click-through to the site, we started seeing more viewership.”
It is a model that several publishers and editors with whom I work are becoming interested in. How can their newspapers and magazines serve mobile users better by allowing them to skip the home page, which many already do, as they come into stories via social media.
By the way, Patel was quick to mention that his company is closely connected to Facebook Twitter, Youtube and Google.
Again, it is all about the connection to these social media outlets which is where the largest congregation of our readers and potential readers congregate.
