I guess I don’t really get Theory. Maybe I do. In theory, these clothes should be very high quality as a result of their high price. Here is what I see though. Theory has medium strength brand recognition. So that is positive. The problem is, these items are relatively high-priced, but even a minimally savvy consumer would be able to find comparable items at about half the price pretty easily.
I doubt many people would know the difference between a theory $700 suit and say, a suit from Nordstrom’s Classiques Entier line for $350. I don’t think it’s worth it. Theory must have out of the world quality. Or they think we fashionistas are perhaps a bit slow. Well, I love fashion. And, I would look just as good in a suit for half the price, especially if it allows me to have an additional suit in the closet for the same price as a single Theory suit.
