The Wizard Of Oz: 85th Anniversary- One Of The Best Audio Description Tracks Ever?
Quick Take: This is one of the best tracks I’ve ever heard. It is as if the people making it knew they were touching greatness. The audio description for this film was going to be used time and time again, and needed to be perfect. To transport us into the world of oz, to give us a strong depth of description on Dorthy and her black and white life in Kansas, while embracing the technicolor parade of the Yellow Brick Road. And, to have this at the same time as Wicked, of course the attention would be drawn to it. But 2024 was also an anniversary year. If you haven’t gotten a chance to catch this track, you have to. I hope to do a Quality check on it at some point just so I can break down why everything is so flawless. I’ve seen this a ton of times, before losing my sight. It has never been the kind of favorite where I needed to use it as a comfort film, so it rests somewhere in the 5-10 times range. But, enough that the audio description brought back some images. that’s something I always appreciate. For more, check out my video.
