Today's entry from The Vault is one that I came to love because of its inclusion on the soundtrack to 'Good Morning Vietnam'. The giddy, melodic 'Sugar and Spice' is a 1963 song by Merseybeat group The Searchers. It was written by Tony Hatch under the pseudonym Fred Nightingale. It made number two on the UK charts when it was released in 1963. I dug through my brain trying to remember where I had seen the name Tony Hatch before, and then I remembered: he was the man who wrote the 'Neighbours' theme tune with his late ex-wife Jackie Trent.
