The Vault: Amen Corner - '(If Paradise Is) Half As Nice'

Posted on the 11 October 2016 by Rw/ff @rwffmusic
Time for another edition of a brand new feature. While Track Of The Day brings you new music and Rewind takes you back 20 years, The Vault deals in amazing songs from random points in musical history. RW/FF will keep these posts short and sweet, with only a small bit of basic info. All you have to do is press play and enjoy.

Today's track is one that I first discovered in 1999, when a new love of film soundtracks opened up my eyes to a diverse range of music that broke my the indie and dance boundaries that I had confined myself to for the previous couple of years. I found this on a brilliant mod-themed compilation CD called 'The In Crowd'. (If Paradise Is) Half as Nice' was a single by Amen Corner, originally written by the Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Battisti and translated into English by Jack Fishman. It was recorded by Amen Corner and became the most successful of the band's six hit singles. It reached number one on the UK Singles Chart in February 1969. The song was a non-album single, and can be found on various 'Best Of' collections. Read more info about Amen Corner HERE.
