My 10 year old daughter is fully intrigued by the story of Malala, the Pakistani girl who was shot by the Taliban because she was fighting for the right of education for girls. Being in the same age group but born in a country where schooling is by many kids seen as a burden instead of a privilege she can't get enough of the "girl who is fighting for the rights she herself takes for granted". I hope and think Malala's story will inspire my daughter to use her privilege in a wise way and to the use of many others.
This TED talk below is of an inspiring young Afghan woman, Shabana Basij-Rasikh. With a wise father! It also gives an interesting insight of the Taliban regime on education of women in Afghanistan.
