David Cameron, the PM of the UK has taken a brave step forward to protect children in the United Kingdom from running into nasty porn websites. Yesterday, on July 22nd Cameron made a speech about “cracking down on online pornography and making the internet safer for children”.

According to Prime Minister’s speech, the UK government plans to release this new Internet security system by the end of this year which involves a new default filtering system. Meaning that the parents wont have to install different kind of softwares on each of their devices to protect their children from adult content. After the roll out, users will be prompted to whether or not to install family friendly filters whenever someone sets up a new broadband account to filter adult content. Gizmodo reports that the new program will “affect both new and existing internet customers” in the UK. And it will force them to turn on the filters, unless they contact the Internet service provider and ask them to turn it on.

Many countries already tried to block porn websites, including the one I’m living in. But, it wasn’t really successful. Everyone can still easily access most of the popular porn sites. However, this new filter system could actually work. Well, lets face it, how many of you would call in your ISP and ask them to turn on porn, right? Although, I don’t think it would take too long for those guys in the UK to figure out how to crack the filter and disable it.
