Exposing the Public to the hideous Fly Tipping.
Vacant buildings in towns and cities are often affected and fall victim to fly tipping by rouges that are NOT licensed “man and van”companies that charge very little. Everyone wants to get best value for money; especially with something as unattractive as the removal of waste. However PLEASE note that if your waste is found on such a fly tipping site because you did not employ a proper licensed waste management company then YOU WILL BE FINED and held responsible This is not always known by the general public.
Just this week RTS Waste were approached to visit a nearby building to quote for the clearance of a vast amount of waste. In South East London near Bermondsey, round the corner from our Transfer Station at SE16 3LP. An area of about 60 x 25 meter squared was totally covered in mixed waste about 1.5 meter high. Not sure how long it had been there causing a tremendous amount of environmental damage. The vermin and causality of a building laid vacant for some time in this condition.
Tougher Enforcement
Despite the threat of environmental enforcement fines ranging from £500 upwards, it is not stopping some scoundrels in this world who are dishonest and give the waste industry a bad name. It is RTS’s intention to provide our customers and local community with the knowledge to know how to prevent this from happening.
The obligations require that all in the waste chain take “reasonable” steps to ensure waste is not deposited unlawfully or cause harm.
Clearly Cheapest is not always Best
Tackling waste crime is not easy for local councils or the EA (Environmental Agency) to keep regulated attention on the 4 million waste producers. Businesses large or small need to know the responsibility that as a WASTE PRODUCER it should be with them on checking the correct licensed waste carriers collect and treat their waste.
