Chicago band The Thin Cherries is the brainchild of Steven Delisi and Mark Lofgren. Starting out a project as an outlet for their love of Britpop and college rock - plus a healthy dose of psychedelic pop brought to the table by Lofgren by way of his membership of The Luck of Eden Hall - it didn't take long before it evolved into a full-fledged band.
Their self-titled debut album, to which they both contributed five songs, is a cohesive unit of well-crafted tunes, wrapped in Eighties keys playing Sixties fills. Sharing vocal duties the band builds multi-layered harmonies. Never rushing things they take time to use a wide variety of textures, weaving an intricate tapestry that appears to be changing colours when observed closely.
The Thin Cherries:
Steven Delisi: vocals, guitar, harmonica
Mark Lofgren: vocals, bass, guitar, keyboards
Gabriel Palomo: drums
Darren Shepherd: drums, guitar, bass, vocals
