The Steps To Get To the Ultimate Goal in the NFL

By Nicolas

There are steps to being a successful team in the NFL year in and year out. Every single year, all 32 teams have a chance to win the Super Bowl, but realistically, it is like less than half of the league that have a legit shot at winning a title, though.

The Super Bowl this season will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on February 12th, 2023. NFL Week 7 odds are still months away, but not football season. What are the steps for a football franchiser to reach the ultimate goal?

Training Camp

One of the most important parts of the NFL season is training camp. This is where teams shape out the roster. This is not about the automatics who will make the rosters. It is more about fighting for starting positions at some wide receiver spots or offensive line spots.

This could also be about some rookies looking to make the roster on special teams as a final spot when all of the roster cuts come later in the training camp sessions.

Reps are important because it makes you get better. There are depth charts, and people must work their way up them to get playtime.

Preseason Games

A long time ago, star players used to play in the NFL preseason. However, that seems to be a thing of the past because Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay feels no need for it, and everyone else in the NFL copied it.

Players like quarterback Matthew Stafford, wide receiver Cooper Kupp, and defensive tackle Aaron Donald don’t play a single snap in the preseason and do all of their work in training camp.

They happened to win Super Bowl LVI last season against the Cincinnati Bengals, and McVay was also doing this since he was the head coach of the Los Angeles Rams, though.

Many backup quarterbacks will start games in the preseason and get tons of reps. It is important to find out who the backup quarterback is in case a quarterback goes down.

Depth running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, and other positions will also get work in these games and see who makes the roster.

Roster Cuts

Each team must cut the roster to 53 players before the regular season begins. This is one of the hardest parts because the head coach and the general manager have to be in lockstep with these difficult decisions, and then they have to come up with a practice squad.

Regular Season Games

All of the preseason stuff is over, and it is time for business. It is time to win as many games as possible and get yourself to the playoffs. The regular season is very important because you put in all that hard work during the offseason and training camp. Unfortunately for some teams, they will either be bad or struck with bad injury luck, though.

Seven teams make it to the NFL playoffs in the AFC and the NFC. The four division winners and three wild card teams with the best records didn’t win their respective divisions.

Postseason Games

Congratulations, if you are of the 14 teams that are in the postseason, you have a shot at winning it all, and sorry to the other 18 teams that have to prepare with critical decisions for next season, though. Only one team in the AFC and the NFC get first-round byes. This is a one-and-done playoff format.

Super Bowl LVII

At State Farm Stadium, the AFC and the NFC winner will face off in Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona. This is the road to the Super Bowl this season and the necessary steps for each and every team. At the end of the day, there will only be one winner. Will the Los Angeles Rams repeat as Champions, or will a betting favorite like the Buffalo Bills win it all?
