Very rarely do the English sisters Emily, Jessica and Camilla Staveley-Taylor visit the US, which is why it was an absolute pleasure to see them play at Rough Trade in support of their second record If I Was. The Staves never disappoint with their live shows. Their performances are always immaculate, filled with gorgeous vocal harmonies, heartfelt melodies and beautiful lyrics. What people don’t know about The Staves, though, is that their excellent sense of humor makes for brilliant and hilarious stage banter — they’re big drinkers as well. “Brooklyn Lager tastes better in Brooklyn,” joked Emily. Sadly, this Brooklyn show was their only US performance before returning to their native England, but they’ll hopefully be back soon.
