James Cleare, Heather Robb, & James Smith are The Spring Standards, a folk rock trio thriving on vocal harmonies. The yellow//gold 2EP finds them at a crossroads: yellow is soft-spoken and rural, looking back at their childhoods in Pennsylvania and Delaware, while gold is louder and energetic tapping into the vibe of New York, theirr current palace of residence. They might evolve into a unremarkable rock band if they're not careful ...

With the tender woodwinds adding color to Chicago and the percussive piano during the superb ballad Enemies, the yellow part of the 2EP is the clear winner of the set. However, the keyboard heavy rocker Here We Go of the gold half will get them airplay on tons of indie loving radio stations.
