I was listening to a podcast this morning and was reminded of how important it is for us to focus on the process of how we live, not the desired outcomes that may or may not happen.
If we don’t get our desired outcome, we’re not happy. If we tie happiness to external events or achievements we’re bound to be disappointed on a regular basis.
Happiness, joy and fulfillment are found everywhere when we focus on the process. I’m stressed when I think maybe this book I’m writing will suck and no one will like it (outcome). However, when I think about what I’m learning and how I’m growing as a person during this process, it makes me feel incredibly fulfilled. I’d be lying if I said I didn’t care if the book was successful, but I feel good knowing I’m accomplishing an important goal I’ve set for myself.
Where can you find happiness in your process today?
