The Salem Adventure Book Review

Posted on the 12 July 2013 by Upatdawn @lisakeva
Over the past two years, I've become acquainted with author Susan Kilbride's work.  First through her fabulous Science Unit Study Curriculum and second through her Our America series.
My children and I have thoroughly enjoyed the first two books which take the reader through early American history adventures.  First as a passenger on the Mayflower, and next as a participant in King Phillips War.   These living books are carefully researched and skillfully written.  Think Magic Tree House, but, for a slightly older crowd and without the wizardry.
The Salem Adventure Book ReviewThe Salem Adventure continues this series!  Join siblings Ginny and Finn as they return to the past once again to search for their parents.  This time landing in Salem, Massachusetts during the time of the Salem Witch Trials.
Throughout the book, Finn and Ginny interact with their own ancestors which brings an extra note of realism to this adventure.  Fascinating facts and details of actual participants are woven into the plot.  It is amazing to think of the first few issues that started the wheels in motion ending in mass hysteria.
A quote from Mary Etsy, one of the accused.  The author notes:  "Her plea is a reminder to us not to rush to judge others, lest we cause harm that can't be undone."
"I petition to your honors not for my own life, for I know I must die and my appointed time is set, but the Lord He knows it is that if it be possible no more innocent blood may be shed." - Mary Etsy
The siblings are also affected by these accusations as one of them is  jailed - accused of being a witch.  Time is almost up.  Will they both return to the present or will one remain in the past?
Celebrate this new release with Susan!  On July 15, 16 and 17th download the second book in the series, The King Philip's War Adventure, for FREE from Amazon! Click here .
