I’ve been telling people non-stop that the salvation of the Terminator franchise is in my brain as long as the rights stay out of Cameron’s hands.
Easy… Arnie’s role should be the human soldier who gave his appearance to the cyborgs. This may be William Candy (T3) or some other bad-ass army officer.
Bring The Rock as the machine and either pit them against each other or create another Cameron-esque, genius, iconic enemy, against which our heroes will team up.
The story may take place after T:Salvation or between T3 and T:S. It may even be before John’s time and the person they will protect could be a young Sarah.
As it turns out, I wasn’t the only one who was dreaming of saving the whole franchise with The Rock-Arnie on screen.
WWE Examiner posted a report on Paramount Pictures, Annapurna Pictures and Skydance Entertainment is thinking on bringing Dwayne Johnson as a potential co-star of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the upcoming fifth “Terminator” movie. They also say that at least two versions of the script are begin developed, one with Johnson specifically in mind.
“One idea being considered… T5 may be a prequel set in the days of Sarah Connor’s parents. Schwarzenegger may not play the role of a machine in the next film, but a potentially heroic human figure in or close to the Connor family. One theory is that Schwarzenegger’s remarkable ability to protect the Connor family in the 1940s or 1950s with antiquated weaponry by today’s standards ultimately inspired the machines to develop a terminator in his likeness that was eventually sent to 1984 when Sarah Connor was first targeted for termination.”
T5 filming is set to begin in January.
