The Rise of the “Harlem Shake”

“Harlem Shake” is originally an electronic bass-filled music track produced by Baauer.In February 2013 the first video appeared showing four masked guys dancing a 30 seconds Harlem Shake cut.

The dance itself is defined by Urban Dictionary as ‘An eccentric upper body dance move that involves the shaking of the upper torso and shoulders”. It has now become the cult of the moment on You Tube and collectively these videos may end up dwarfing Gangnam Style.

Some remarkable videos involve the action of Norwegian Army,US Fire Fighters and Swedish police as well as a counteless number of creative agencies, bored teenagers etc..

There’s even a site that will turn any other site into a living breathing Harlem Shake.The version below shows our blog “being shaked”.
