The Raging 1920's Fashion & Today

By Fashiontakeout @FashionT_O
Are you ready to be seduced into the era of the raging 1920's fashion? We'll you better be; because "The Great Gatsby" is going to be in theaters May 10th, 2013.

"The Great Gatsby" story envelopes a would-be-writer "Nick Carraway", who throws away his Mid-West traditions...to take on New York in the Spring of 1922.
New York was going through it's turbulent political and social culture exchanges that worked it's way through to World War 1 and Nick; who was seeking to find his own "American Dream" in the raging 1920's. A new breed of loosening morals, glitz and jazz, and bootlegging promiscuity.
Today; Polyvore is having a contest about fashion and the new "The Great Gatsby" movie.  We are going to create a fashion collage entertaining the fashions of the 1920's.
the great gatsby and the flapper dresses
What I love about the 1920's...is the coming out of women and fashion. A rebellious stance at conformity. If men could smoke, drink, women could to and they were known as the "flapper girls".
Wikipedia.com states it as such; "Flappers were a "new breed" of young Western women in the 1920s who wore short skirts, bobbed their hair, listened to jazz, and flaunted their disdain for what was then considered acceptable behavior."
In our fashion collage today, I wanted to illustrate a fashion look similar to the fashion style of the raging 1920's.
So I chose a River Island Black Design Forum Sequin Flapper dress from River Island fashion boutique and a pair of Mulberry metallic brushed-leather t-bar pumps from Net-a-Porter that did the trick. I thought a gold envelope clutch would kick this fashion look off quite well and some gold and black jewelry pieces.

What do you think? It's raging the 1920's or it's a vintage fashion look for today...

Thanks again for stopping by....Hope your having a sensstional day or maybe night.
