The Furka road from Gletsch up to Grimselpass cuts through a region packed with dozens of lakes and hundreds of springs.

Hydroelectric dams, pipelines, high voltage lines frame this alien panorama.

In smaller lakes water is pumped up when electricity cost drops …

… and the same water is then released into pipelines to downhill turbines close to bigger lakes, thus producing new low cost electricity.
