Plot: Will, an American architect living in London, is thrust into an odyssey through the American West upon learning of his estranged mother’s death.

Story: The Pilgrim starts as architect Will (Worden) learns that his estranged mother has passed away. Will must travel home from London to the American West to see his sister Jeannie (Stein). He clashes with his sister and learns his mother’s dying wish was to have her ashes spread where she grew up.

Will is reluctant to go on the journey until he starts to see what it could do for him. He heads out into the American West down memory lane as he learns what caused his mother to become estranged from the rest of the family.

Verdict on The Pilgrim

The Pilgrim is a drama following a man that gets to look back on his life after his estranged mother’s death. This sees him returning to his roots away from the life he has now. It sees him going on his own path of self-discovery to learn more about what changed in his life.

This is a movie that gets to explore where people have come from. It shows that no matter how far away you might get, you can always get drawn back into the world. This gets everything it needs to get right on the journey despite being pretty generic in how the journey unfolds. If you are looking for a self-discovery story, this will give you what you want.
