The cool new stuff that was jammed in my closet. I seriously wish I could go back in time to feel the exhilaration that came with shopping. In reality, I recall my mother forcing me to buy everything with flowers on it when I was about 16 years old. She wept bitterly when I refused to wear those poufy bangs with a huge bow to accent the side ponytail. And that was last week. I was never the girl with the healthy tan after break. I was the girl who had to practice spelling words for hours at a time and the dictionary was required Summer reading. I am not terribly emotionally scarred. I think I may force my children to do the same. I could recover quickly if she took me on a reminiscent back to school shopping extravaganza….. this is what I would buy if I was back to my 8th grade self.
Copyright J. CrewClassic canvas overnight bag from J. Crew. Girls need cute bags for all of the sleepovers they have with their friends. Where they may or may not sneak out and walk around the neighborhood and that is the height of their rebelliousness. Remember when only the rich kids had caller ID? We could prank call people all night and virtually no one could figure out who we were. Those were the days.
Copyright Addapinch.comPerfume. The good stuff. Plus, I don’t know why, but the bottle design elements really do matter. I refuse to have an ugly perfume bottle sitting on my dresser. It’s art people.
Copyright FabrianoEach one of the journals in this Fabriano Paper Bouquet is made out of a different type of paper (parchment, recycled, embossed, etc.). I’m in love. I wish there was a pink, purple and mint colored one too, then my life would be complete. I was obsessed with a new notebook. Opening it up on the first day and writing was like some sort of weird addiction. I still collect notebooks just to look at them. Pens too. I sound like a hoarder. I don’t think I am, but if I am, I am not ready for recovery apparently. I am a neat hoarder.
Copyright Tory BurchFlats with Character. My mom would be proud. These floral inspired flats update the girly girl fashion of the late 80′s with flair. They are different and I can’t quite put my finger on the “why”, which to me, means they are a fashion win. They are versatile enough that they could go with jeans and a blazer or a cute skirt as long as the shirt you wear with the skirt is more masculine. Too much girly is not a good thing. You want to balance things out.
Copyright J. CrewBrightly colored blazer. I just love blazers now that I am old. I love that they are back in style with a vengeance. This means you should be able to find them at all price points. Stock up while they are a trend, because they may be a trend right now, but they are truly a classic. Reminds me of my new pal Emily who wore a magenta blazer from The Limited to a job interview I happened to be in. Needless to say, she got the job.
Copyright Stella and DotThe No one else has it iPhone case. Of course its mint. What else do you expect people? Your iPhone needs fashionable clothes too. You use your phone everyday. All day. There is no reason to have some busted up, no personality case on it. End of story.
The list goes on and on, but I think I could survive with these unique staples for my pretend back to school shopping spree. I would have at least made it to week 2 of school before I needed another trip to the mall. Those were the days.
