The Night We Dined with Paul Merton

By India Struthers @India_Alexandra

Stac PollyAlways one ready to try new places we booked a table for three at The Stac Polly. Bearing in mind it was festival time everywhere was pretty fully booked up. Some places (The Witchery) are even booked up until September 27th when we tried booking it the other day for someone’s birthday! Incredible. Anyway, we were looking forward to a new place to go and dine. Ma and I came to know the Stac Polly’s upstairs bar area a couple of weeks ago and we wondered at why we hadn’t been before. The upstairs area is newly (ish) renovated and is called The Gin & Wine Bar , suitably named don’t you think? I really like the upstairs part with its brightness and various textures (wall, leather, wood etc etc) and last time we had enjoyed a couple of Edinburgh Gin Roses and some nibbles. When we booked our table we had asked to be sat upstairs in the little next door room (we espied a fire!!) rather than in the downstairs area. Well, I presume you can guess what’s coming next. What’s the only thing missing from these scenes ? Yep, no waiting staff or customers. A wonderful space ...
