It’s that time again. It’s time to tell you guys what’s coming down the pike here at 101 Books.
Yes, the reading has been slower lately. No, I’m not sure if the pace will increase or not. Maybe it will. We’ll see.
Nevertheless, I will finish all of these novels and, to do that, I’ve got to get through these next 5. So here are the next books I’ll be reading—most of which you probably haven’t heard of. Yes, we’re to the more obscure part of the list.
The Heart of the Matter by Graham Greene: This will be my second visit with Graham Greene, who also wrote The Power and the Glory, which I enjoyed. I know very little about The Heart of the Matter but excited to get back into Greene’s work.
At-Swim Two Birds by Flann O’Brien: Oh, yes, another novel I know nothing about. I told you “obscurity” would be the theme of this blog post. Flann O’ Brien, an Irish author, wrote At Swim Two-Birds, so there’s that.
The Painted Bird by Jerzy Kazinski: Another bird book that I know nothing about! This one’s by Jerzy Kazinski. It has outstanding reviews from famous authors so hopefully I’ll enjoy.
To the Lighthouse by Virginia Woolf: Yep, it had to happen eventually. Ever since I suffered through Mrs. Dalloway, I’ve avoided reading one single word by Virginia Woolf. But here we are again. I must conquer this novel. Wish me well. Woolf is not my cup of tea.
Play It As It Lays by Joan Didion. I’ve heard of the movie, but don’t know much about the book by Joan Didion. I’d like to think it’s a novel about golf.
All right guys, I’ll kick these next five off with a preview post—much more in depth than the above garbage—on Monday. Friday’s post will have nothing to do with anything, but you don’t want to miss it.
