Visual artist Erik de Bree and interventional cardiologist Marcel Beijk wre both in the experimnetal guitar band El Camino. For their new project, the lectonic duo The New Orland, thye have ditcheed the six string and switched to synths and drum machines.
They have released two EPs so far and on the second all of their ideas really come together. Adventurous post-rock meets Krautrock, wihtout any of sterility that is associated with electronic music as a genre. Each note is where it should be, but there is plenty of wiggling room to allow the tracks to breathe. They are not DJs pushing a few buttons, but musicians exploring the possibilieties of both their instruments and compositions.
2 is a self-released EP. Buy it from their website.
