On our way down to the Kohokohu car ferry in the Northlands we stopped in Ahipara - a tiny beach town renowned for it's sand dunes, gum fields and the deliciousness of its fried sea creatures. We stopped at Bidz' Takeaways where I ordered a heaping bag filled with enormous salty chips and a few burning hot chunks of fried snapper, while Jesse went for the infamous Bidz' seafood burger.
So massive it needed a significant amount of squashing before a bite could possibly be attempted, the sandwich was packed with a staggering array of oysters, mussels, scallops and fish. Jesse wasn't sure he'd ever before eaten a similar quantity of fried anything in a single meal. Needless to say, it was an impressive and delicious feat.
