The Melodic is a pretty bold choice for a band name, but, as it turns out, The Melodic are exactly what their name implies and beyond. Their debut EP, On My Way, is four delicately-arranged world folk tracks that are both sweet and melodic as hell. The title track might be the catchiest song I’ve heard all year — I was able to sing along upon my first listen. Their sound is a fairly simple recipe made up of buoyant harmonies and meticulous instrumentation and baked to pop perfection, and, whether or not they’re trying for it, I’ll be nothing short of shocked if these guys don’t get as much radio play as, say, Of Monsters and Men or The Lumineers.  The Melodic have this youthful, endearing energy that makes them severely listenable, the sort of band you put on for a friend whose musical tastes you haven’t yet learned because you just can’t dislike them.

The Melodic drop their first full-length this very week — let’s dig in now and see how long it takes the others to catch on. Enjoy that earworm track I spoke of earlier, “On My Way”, above, and brace yourself for Effra Parade dropping November 5.
