The Last of Us movie is adaptation of the game, Druckmann confirms
The Last of Us writer Neil Druckmann has confirmed that Naughty Dog’s movie adaptation will re-tell the plot of the PS3 game.
Speaking with IGN after last night’s game BAFTAs – which saw The Last of Us scoop five awards – Druckmann confirmed that the film would adapt the game’s story, rather than tell an off-shoot tale from elsewhere in the world.
“It’s an adaptation of the story of The Last of Us,” he told the site. “As far as where we go and how we make it fit into a film, how it takes into account the unique properties of film… We’re not sure yet. We’re only just scratching the surface.”
He added that Naughty Dog is working on another multiplayer DLC drop, that will complete the game’s season pass slate.
When asked about the recently-confirmed The Last of Us 2 brainstorming sessions at the studio, Druckmann replied, “We don’t know yet. We’re still trying to figure it out. We’re brainstorming some stuff, so we’ll see where that goes.”
