Dutch rock quartet The La La Lies hit running ground when they appeared on TV in 2009 when they had only two originals. The Alkmaar based band have been on the road a lot since then, writing new songs and hooking with producer Huub Reijnders to lay down the tracks for their debut album. Pretty Tales & Promises is filled with twelve garage rock songs with instantly hummable refrains. Taking cues from late Sixties pop and Seventies rock riffs, they picked up considerable airplay, becoming a 3FM Serious Talent on Dutch radio.
The La La Lies have caught the wave of retro-rock, drawing comparisons with DeWolff and Triggerfinger. These guys deserve to be big and a headlining Dutch club tour should be their ticket to wider recognition. Check out the hooks of On The Other Side, with a pretty smart qutet-loud-quiet segment, and The Who-like anthem Friday and the rumbling road song Memory Lane. Alcmaria Victrix!
