image creditThe Kila Raipur Sports Festival, popularly known as Rural Olympics, is held annually in Kila Raipur, in Punjab, India. Competition is held for major Punjabi rural sports, including cart-races, and rope pulling, plow-in-the-mouth balancing, and leaping through fiery hoops.
Every February since 1933, Kila Raipur becomes the destination for hundreds of sports enthusiasts. They come to see the special breed of bullocks, camels, dogs, mules and other animals competing in competitive events.
