Anyone who says a good receiver behind the plate is overrated has probably never had a good one. I personally have thrown to many catchers in my day and believe me, a good receiver is worth his weight in gold. That’s why a good receiver can hit under .250 and spend many years in the major leagues.
I think most coaches would agree with me but now there apparently is something for those nonbelievers. Statistics!
In a recent ESPN The Magazine edition, an article was written which seems to prove that the impact a good receiver has on a team is more than just a subjective opinion.
To see the online version of the article, click HERE. Not sure if the magazine itself had a larger version but the link is pretty good by itself.
Have a great weekend!
