The Texas "Hole House" as it became known was in existence for only a few months in 2005. A disaster of the space time continuum? A tragic and curious result of an earthquake? An ominous omen? Just what the heck was going on with this extremely bizarre and short lived building? Of course the answer is nothing so outlandish or alien; it turns out that in the spring of 2005 two houses slated for demolition were turned into a limited time art project that came to be known...

... as the "Hole House". On the corner of Montrose Boulevard and Willard Street in Houston, Texas the project was around for only a few months before being demolished.
Officially known as the "Inversion" project it was the work of two Houston sculptors Dan Havel and Dean Ruck who were offered the building to work with for a short period of time prior to its demolition to make way for a new Art League Houston building. An excerpt from the Art League Press Release at the time reads:"Havel and Ruck will create a large funnel-like vortex beginning from the west wall adjacent to Montrose Blvd. The exterior skin of the houses will be peeled off and used to create the narrowing spiral as it progresses eastward through the small central hallway connecting the two buildings and exiting through a small hole into an adjacent courtyard."
Sadly no longer with us this work of art [or dangerous trans-dimensional vortex - whichever you prefer] will have to live on in pictures only.
