The Great India LitterBug -Amazing People

By Awanish Kumar @snazzyawi
Last Sunday I was traveling in Mumbai metro and two senior citizen were  debating about Swach India campaign's  and littering habit in India, one was saying that it has been passed to us from generation, In reply suddenly one of them shouted "We Indian are, this way only, we do littering, we feel like it's our birth right we are actually litterbug's, What "Litterbug", This word blown my mind with plethora of thoughts & I started recollecting all memories of  those amazing Litterbug's whom I have met since my childhood.

I thought sharing these memories & these people from our society and their work of making our country a wasteland should be recognized and government should really identify these hidden (actually open) talent from our community and try to award them in some way. So here goes the memories of few great litterbugs who gave me the opportunity to see their talent. My sport teacher at High school: I remember, I had a sports teacher in our school and his name was Mr. Pandey and every time you find him chewing either Paan or Guthka in his mouth. So be in playground or sports area, boundary walls, staircase everywhere  he used to litter around with his red lips & used to say, "Sport ko seriously lo, nahi to fail ho jaoge"(In English - Take sport seriously or else you will get failed). I am not sure whether student have taken him  or sport  seriously, but he was very serious about his spitting, ask him a single question on sports and he will give you a spot answer with red spit coming out of his mouth. Our school ground had various red spots and all created by our own "Pandey ji ". I can award him as one of our school great litterbug for his littering art.Now moving to another incident of my life which made me  respect these  heroes of our country.
Mafia family on highway (Asking them not to throw waste on road might have proved costly): One day I accompanied my office colleague in his car, we were about to  cross the bridge on highway, suddenly I saw one family in Innova car with three big plastic bags of black colour (Did they murder someone first thought on my mind-Shavdhan India style). After stopping the car, they started throwing all bags one by one below the bridge. I asked my colleague to stop by and ask them what they are doing. I was about to ask them what they are doing it's not a garbage dump, you can't throw waste like this, one of them came to me and said "I know you are here to give me some "gyan" on cleanliness, but dude I don't want it keep it with you ". I got shocked he was so confident about what they were doing, as it was like their daily job & birth right to throw garbage on highways. My colleague confronted him, and again the another guy with him came and said "Get away or I will put these bags in your car  and your ***  both ". I said what the hell, situation was getting bad and we both had to reach office on time ,so we took our path and left the spot. In my mind I was thinking whole day what an amazing people(Litterbug) we have in our society. They are really following the Indian tradition of  throwing trash and filth around. One of their kind, I really wanted to nominate them for an award of  great litterbug family.

I realized lately that  maximum Littering  is result of individual Litterbug character,it's nothing to do with our society.

Achieve the impossible -Munna bhai Movie plot :Take an example from popular bollywood movie "Lage Raho Munna Bhai ", A Scene where one character from film used to have a creepy habit of spitting on the wall of his neighbor's flat & wall besides building staircase  with his mouth full of Red Pann .Munnabhai, the hero of the film after consulting from Gandhi Ji decided to treat this ill mannered man with a smile on his face & used clean the wall himself every time the litterbug sprays out the betel-syrup and cleaned the wall himself .After some time the litterbug realized he is not doing heroic stuff and got embarrassed, felt guilty and finally stopped spitting on his neighbor's wall.
