great googa mooga 550x173 THE GREAT GOOGAMOOGA PREVIEW [FESTIVAL]

The Great GoogaMooga has arrived! Sounds like an enormous gelatinous horror from beyond, right? Well, you’re wrong — it’s much more pleasant. And what’s so special about this festival? Well, aside from being totally free to attend, GoogaMooga gives food and drink top billing, with music playing second fiddle.

Don’t think for a second, though, that the music is simply there to provide a soundtrack for eating delicious edibles and drinkables. The Roots are playing on Saturday, and what better to match with their funky beats than eating drummer Questlove’s own line of fried chicken. Yes, that’s right. You can listen to The Roots while you eat food by The Roots. This is why GoogaMooga is going to knock your pants off.

So, what are we most excited for? On Saturday don’t miss Fort Lean, Bear Hands, and a DJ set by indie-legend James Murphy. For the foodies, check out The Joy Of Rhubarb with Johnny Iuzzini and Speedtasting: The Corkbuzz Wine event. Anthony Bourdain is running exhibits on both days.

On Sunday, be sure to catch Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires, Lucius, Lez Zeppelin (all-female Led Zeppelin tribute) and OH MY GOD HALL AND OATES? Yes. Hall and Oates.  For your belly, hit up Jay Gatsby’s NYC Brunch and Shell Shucked! hosted by The John Dory Oyster Bar.

And finally, if things couldn’t get any better, forecast for the weekend is 70s and sunny. See you out there!
