With all the buzz around The Great Gatsby, the makeup and fashion trends from the 1920s are also on the rise.
The roaring 20s represent many great things. One being a time when women were beginning to be more expressive. Women weren’t afraid to showoff their sexy appeal.
Lots of fringe, sparkle and jewels – it was a time for socialites and over-the-top lifestyles.
It was also a time for creamy, fair skin painted with dark, berry-toned lips and rosy cheeks.
To pull off a 1920s look in the 2013 would require just a few tweaks. Here’s what you’d need for a modern Gatsby makeup look.
Matte Foundation
The only shimmer and shine was from the extravagant Tiffany jewelry worn. So pick your favorite matte foundation and set it with a pressed or HD powder.
Dark Eyeshadow
Neutral wasn’t the look they were going for -NOPE!. Very made up looks – YEP! Dark eyeshadow on the lids was very common. Layer your shadows by using a cream and powder eyeshadow in the same shade. This will create the ultimate intense eye. Check out BH Cosmetics eyeshadow palettes for a wide range of colors and variety.
Lashes and Liner
It doesn’t matter in my opinion. When it comes to false lashes and cat liner, it always works. Whether it’s 1920 or 2020 go bold when it comes to your lashes.
Berry Lips and Cheeks
Skip the bronzer. Skip your NARS Orgasm and Laguna duos. Also skip the nude lipstick. During this era, rosy cheeks and blood-stained lips rocked.
Beauty Mark
By far the most exciting part of the 1920s look besides the fingerwaves, flapper dress and electric cigarette. The must-have beauty mark. Dab one on or enhance the one you already have. Easy – Peasy!
Am I missing anything? Are you going to see the movie? I’m excited about the costumes and makeup (of course). And! I know several people will be taking the 1920s route for Halloween this year.
