The Glorious Sons, A War On Everything Album Review

Kingston, ON powerhouse rock and rollers, The Glorious Sons are back with a new album packed with songs for fans to dig into.

The band has loaded A War On Everything with 14 new songs, including their latest #1 single, Panic Attack and the follow-up release, Pink Motel. It's the continuation of a successful run that saw the band go to the top of the rock charts in Canada and the US with S.O.S. (Sawed Off Shotgun). The new album, their third full-length effort, offers a variety of tempos, feelings, and sounds. It shows off the band's range and ability to change speeds and sounds while holding onto their identity and taking listeners along with them on a ride.

Jay, Chris K, Adam, Chris H, Josh, and Brett have a lot on the line with A War On Everything. We don't mean to be hyperbolic, but coming off of US chart success, Canadian chart success, and opportunities like opening for The Rolling Stones, expectations have risen. A lot to factors will come into play before we can call this album a success or not (radio play, booking, ticket sales, media coverage, grassroots support, etc.). And while we can't predict how all of that will come out, we can tell you that they have set themselves up for more good things to happen.

The Glorious Sons have 14 new songs to choose from when building the setlist for their upcoming shows this fall in the UK and across Europe, and when they come back to North America for shows in 2020. Depending on the balance they're looking for, there isn't a song on A War On Everything that couldn't find a spot in the setlist. Heck, they've already started playing A Funny Thing Happened, The Ongoing Speculation Into The Death Of Rock And Roll, and Panic Attack at recent shows in London, ON and Edmonton, AB.

They also have a lot of options when it comes to choosing their next radio singles. All things are pointing to Closer To The Sky as a choice, and if we were going to pick one, we'd probably look at Kick Them Wicked Things. But hey, we could be wrong and they could send another track to radio and watch it climb the charts with love from rock fans in Canada and the US. That wouldn't surprise us at all!

Note: The Glorious Sons made a second appearance at Burl's Creek this summer, in t-shirt form when American country rising star Tyler Rich repped the band during his main stage set at Boots & Hearts 2019.

A lot of fans have been excitedly waiting for this record to drop. It started with the releases of Panic Attack and then Pink Motel and the announcement that there was more new music coming. And from there, excitement did what it does, it grew.

The Glorious Sons, A War On Everything Album Review

In July, when the band released Pink Motel, this is what we said in the New Music Spotlight: " Pink Motel is a stripped-down, lyrically driven, balled from the Kingston rockers that went all the way to #1 with S.O.S. (Sawed Off Shotgun). Brett Emmons vocal performance stands out on the new single, and he deserves some love for that. Atta be, dude. ps. Be ready for the super emotional climax and vocal change.", we stand by all of that as we listen to it again as part of the entire A War On Everything album.

Quickly let's give some love to some of the other songs on the album. The Laws Of Love And War is deep and is going to hit some rock and roll fans right in the feelings. The Ongoing Speculation Into The Death Of Rock And Roll is a quality track that has maybe the best song title of 2019. I'm On Your Side is sweet and has a vibe to it that just really works.

There are a lot of things to like about this album. With 14 songs it's a full listen that you can dig into for 48 minutes. And while we would love more, that's us being greedy, not the band leaving us short. The Glorious Sons change it up enough to keep any one song from just bleeding into the next. The tracks all fit perfectly with who they are and what they do, but they also all exist in their own moment and work.

After months of waiting, mostly patiently, fans have a whole new album of songs from The Glorious Sons. Hit play and listen to A War On Everything from top to bottom. Check out the videos too. And, we've got more photo of The Glorious Sons at Parkjam too.

Enjoy!
