Sean Lennon and Charlotte Kemp Muhl’s The Ghost of a Saber Tooth Tiger performed at Bowery Ballroom last week, sending the crowd back to a time when believing in universal connectedness and mysticism didn’t make you a pariah. Playing songs off the recently released Midnight Sun, the pair revealed a fuller, more electric sound than their previous material. With elements of 60′s psychedelic and progressive rock, heavy reverb and distortion, and Charlotte’s delicate voice weaving harmonies throughout the set, the songs were lush and the lyrics intelligent and reflective. If you’ve missed them this time, they’ll be back on the 30th supporting Beck at Hammerstein Ballroom.

UK quartet Syd Arthur opened. The group, still buzzing from performances at SXSW and Coachella earlier this year, just released sophomore album Sound Mirror and are set to play Northside Festival later this week.
