The Fire Harvest: Singing, Dancing, Drinking

Utrecht is the go-to city in the Netherlands for smart indie music right now. The Fire Harvest cover the middle-ground between alt-country and post-punk on their debut full-length Singing, Dancing, Drinking. Despite its upbeat title the songs are driven by melancholia. With their sparse drums, heavy-handed bass notes and tinkling guitar notes the quartet constructs simple sounding, but complex songs.

Lead single Working Man and Runner will be embraced by fans of slowcore and early Wilco. The chugging Sorry for the Mess is a dead ringer for a roadtrip mixtape - don't sleep on the nifty bass vs. drums duel before the guitars kick in. Recommended if you like The Beta Band and This Leo Sunrise.
