The Farm Living

A weeks back we spent a weekend at a Bed & Breakfast in Crozet, VA. We had not traveled (together) since February (by choice) and were craving sometime away but without the pressure of doing anything touristy, and instead rest and relax away from home. Basically we wanted a change in scenery. And that is exactly what we got. We booked a stay at The Inn at Sugar Hollow which comes with a fabulous view of the Shenandoah National Park ridge. It is quiet, scenic and had a relaxing- country vibe. As soon as we drove into town the pace slowed down, there was no traffic, the turns while driving told us we were now far away from the city life and entering the natural way of living. We reached sometime early afternoon and were afraid the room might not be ready yet. We just wanted to drop our bags and ask the hosts how we could explore the area as we had come with zero research about the locality. Tim, our host was extremely kind. We were probably the first ones to arrive that day. He informed us that the room was ready and we could definitely check-in. We washed of the commute, had a sip of cold water and explored the property, which is more of a farm with animals (and everything!).

Tim recommended a few close by breweries and wineries which were just a few miles away. First we stopped at the Pro Re Nata Brewery, and fell in love with the vibe there. It was so my style. These pictures were taken there. But they were not serving food hence we decided to return back after a meal.  Next we stopped at the Blue Mountain Brewery, where not only did my husband find a refreshing beer, but we also got a good hearty meal. It has a stunning view too and since it was a sunny afternoon we just stayed there and basked in the sun. (We did return to Pro Re Nata later!) We also stopped at Mudhouse (an AMAZING coffee shop) in the evening. So can can say we were on a coffee-beer-hop-run with a lot of conversation in between. And it was exactly what we needed.  Next morning, Tim and Dena served a buffet style breakfast of scrambled eggs, sausage links, fruits and pancakes. While as a vegetarian I didn't find much to eat but my husband sure enjoyed his meal.
Parting thoughts ...
The room was more than we expected. The quaint little touches throughout the property were charming. Host was hospitable and friendly. It was a perfect weekend getaway.
