The Fall Guy (2024) Review

Colt Seavers is a down and out stuntman who after suffering a life changing injury shutdown from the film world, but when being told his ex-girlfriend Jody Moreno requested him for her first director role of a film he makes a comeback.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

As we meet Colt and Jody it feels as though they have quite a lovely little romance going on whilst working on a film, but they aren’t the leading actors. He’s a stuntman and she’s working on one of the cameras. Everything seems quite nice and easy for the pair getting to know one another. However, when a big stunt goes terribly wrong for Colt and he breaks his back it will change everything as they knew it.

Moving forward in time we see him working as a car valet and still struggling to accept what had happened to him. He had been working as the stunt double for Tom Ryder, the biggest movie star around and when his agent Gail Meyer calls him up one day asking him to comeback and that Jody wanted him on the film as well he doesn’t really hesitate after hearing that.

However, it was not going to be as everything seemed when Colt was heading into a strange world when Ryder was missing and Gail was using him. Although the twists and turns within the plot I am not going to spoil, as it does take a few of those. Then we have Jody trying to deal with Colt being back after he had ghosted her and changed his number after the accident.

The Fall Guy is quite the mash up of different genres and quite frankly it is such an enjoyable ride, whilst highlighting the importance of the stunt teams on film sets and the hard work that they put in. Which I guess isn’t really something that we often think about when watching films, well personally I don’t really although maybe that might change slightly after watching this film?

Ryan Gosling really is one of my favorite working actors at the moment as he really go for and with anything and everything, it felt like perfect casting in this role. Emily Blunt opposite him worked so nicely and the chemistry between the pair was a highlight of the film. Aaron Taylor-Johnson goes from strength to strength as well and you just cannot help but enjoy everything about his performance. Hannah Waddingham is now starting to get higher profile roles following the success of Ted Lasso.
